Sarcos Robotics Expands Advisory Board to Include Admiral Eric T. Olson and General Paul F. Gorman

BELLEVUE, Washington & SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — 20 December, 2016 — Sarcos Robotics, a global leader in the development of dexterous robots for use in unstructured environments, today announced the appointment of Admiral Eric T. Olson, U.S. Navy (Ret.) and General Paul F. Gorman, U.S. Army (Ret.) to its Advisory Board.

Admiral Olson is currently President and Managing Member of ETO Group, LLC, serving as an independent national security consultant. He retired from the United States Navy in 2011 after 38 years of military service. He served in special operations units throughout his career and was awarded several decorations for leadership and valor including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal and the Silver Star. His career culminated as the head of the United States Special Operations Command, where he was responsible for the mission readiness of all Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations forces. He was the first Navy SEAL to be appointed to three-star and four-star flag ranks, and was the first naval officer to be USSOCOM’s commander.

General Gorman is a retired United States Army four-star general who served as Commander in Chief, United States Southern Command (USCINCSO). Gorman has worked as a consultant for the Institute for Defense Analyses and the Defense Science Board, and has served on three White House commissions.  Following his retirement, Gorman became an outspoken advocate for the development and deployment of technologies to augment solider performance, including exoskeletons of the type being developed by Sarcos Robotics.

Admiral Olson and General Gorman join retired Vice Admiral David Dunaway, Admiral William Owens (Ret.) and former Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis on Sarcos’ Advisory Board.

“We are honored to have Admiral Olson and General Gorman join our esteemed advisory board”, said Ben Wolff, CEO, Sarcos Robotics. “Their extensive experience, and their continuing passion for the development and deployment of advanced technologies to improve the effectiveness and safety of our armed forces and first responders, will make them invaluable advisors to our team as we continue to develop robotic solutions that augment human performance while reducing the risk of injury and death.”
