Sarcos Robotics Appoints Vice Admiral David Dunaway to Board of Advisors

BELLEVUE, WA and SALT LAKE CITY, UT (Business Wire) November 1, 2016 – Sarcos Robotics, a global leader in the development of dexterous robots for use in unstructured environments, announced today that Vice Admiral, U.S. Navy (Ret.) David Dunaway has been appointed to the Company’s Board of Advisors.  Dunaway joins Admiral (Ret.) William Owens and Boston Police Commissioner (Ret.) Edward Davis, who have served on the Company’s Board of Advisors since 2015.

“I have focused much of my career on developing and implementing new technologies to accomplish our objectives with better, faster and cheaper alternatives. I am delighted to be able to continue my focus on technological and operational innovation by working with Sarcos to field next-generation dexterous robots that augment human performance through human-machine collaboration while enhancing the safety and security of people that would otherwise be in harm’s way,” said Vice Admiral Dunaway.

Vice Admiral (Ret.) Dunaway currently serves as an independent civilian consultant focusing on connecting existing and new technologies with customers. Dunaway previously served as Commander of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Commander of the Operational Test and Evaluation Force, Commander of the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division and Assistant Commander for Test and Evaluation at Naval Air Systems Command. Dunaway is a class of 1982 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science in Aviation Systems Management from the University of Tennessee, and a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. His personal decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He has accrued more than 2,900 flight hours and 290 arrested carrier landings.

Dunaway’s announcement joins a string of momentum-building milestones achieved over the past twelve months. In the fall of last year, the Company unveiled its “Guardian S” snake robot, a first-of-its-kind robotic unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), at the National Tactical Officers Association Conference. Last month, Sarcos announced it had secured funding from a group of top-tier strategic investors including Caterpillar Ventures, GE Ventures, and Microsoft Corporation, with Microsoft’s former CFO, Peter Klein, and GE Venture’s Ralph Taylor-Smith, joining the Company’s Board of Directors.
